器の形状や装飾は、とてつもなく長い時間をかけて

その仕事に携わってきた人々が生み出してきたものです。

ほぼ斬新などと言われるものは無いのかもしれません。

そんな時代に、ひとりの作り手が成せることとは。。。

真似ることからはじまるけれど

モノが内包する美しさを

一度自分の中で噛み砕き

完全に消化し

新たな自分の表現へとつなげていく。

「模写からの脱却」ともいえるでしょう。

子供が大人へと成長し、さらにもっともっと年を重ねていくように

作るものにも変化が起こり、やがて熟成してくる時がきます。

安部太一さんの作品も今、他に比類ないものへと

成熟しはじめているのだと思います。

Pottery’s exquisite shapes and intricate designs are created over

an incredibly long time in the progression of this artist’s work.

There may be nothing totally original in this world…

Every creation starts as a replication of something else.

But once we chew upon the beauty of things and digest them well,

we can make them into original pieces with a completely new expression.

It is a total reformation from replication into innovation.

Just as children age and mature into adulthood,

art also refines itself through a long process.
